On January 12, more than 60 young singers and dancers joined Broadway for Arts Education (BAE) for our first ever Wicked Broadway Workshop. Led by Wicked dancer Colby Q Lindeman, they spent 2.5 hours learning "One Short Day" culminating in a presentation for family and friends with Glinda and Elphaba. In total, the workshop participants fundraised over $17,000 in support of the Cornelia Connelly Center's theater department and upcoming production of "The Wiz.” As Madame Morrible would say: “Congratulotions!”
BAE’s mission is to harness the power of Broadway to make a difference in the lives of children all around the world through arts education, and it is especially moving to see young children at the forefront of the fundraising. Thank you to everyone who donated to our workshop attendees, and for teaching them that making a positive difference in the world can also be a world of fun. A huge shout out to our top fundraisers, Cora David and Jane Lala; to our special Broadway guests and teaching artists Amanda, Jenny, and Colby; to Manhattan Movement and Arts Center for donating the venue; to our event volunteers and coordinators Anna Park Lala, Skie Ocasio, Bryan Campo, and Mary Kate Abner.
Because of this workshop, we can confidently say the world has been changed for good.
