Graphic Design in the Galapagos

Our second year of virtual programming at the Tomas de Berlanga School in the Galapagos Islands comes to a close at the end of February. This year, our cohort of young artists were given the option of choosing which area of arts to study, and the 6th and 7th graders chose graphic design. Expertly navigated by Teaching Artist Luis Mora through the magic of zoom, they used Canva to create personal logos, using images, colors, phrases, and design elements that represent them as individuals. They are currently completing a unit on film and are learning four monologues from popular television shows, which they get to workshop and present to the class. Finally, they are ending the year with a unit of video production where they made commercials for popular products. They scripted, shot, edited, and finalized a product on their own. Congratulations on a wonderful year!
